OUR STORY

GYAP AND THE GVN FOUNDATION HAVE:

  • 6 years leading specialized youth volunteer tours for teens and students
  • 8 years running trainings, conferences and mentorship opportunities in social change and leadership
  • 10 years of fundraising experience with over US$2.5 million raised for our international partners
  • 15 years placing volunteers internationally and working cross culturally with grassroots organizations in Africa, Asia, and the Americas

The Global Youth Ambassador Program was created in 2014 our of our work with youth through the GVN Foundation. The program serves as a spark to encourage young people to pursue a career as a champion for positive social change.  We have the privilege of meeting phenomenal young leaders that want to know: "what can I do...NOW?" Our Global Youth Ambassadors are ready and willing to be challenged, motivated and encouraged to think big, but in many instances had been left out of the conversation.

We think more socially conscious teachers, lawyers, doctors and artists will ultimately create a world we all want to live in and we have designed this program with that goal as our foundation!

My name is Cat and the Program Director for the Global Youth Ambassador Program. For me, this program is personal. I have often looked around an work space, been in a meeting, researched an organization, and everyone associated was older. Their voices were often put above mine and their ideas took priority over anything I had to say. So, one day I asked myself...but why?

Why doesn't my voice matter? Why is my perspective left out of the conversation? Why is my future being decided for me and not with me?

We believe young people hold the potential to create radical social change. We believe young people have the promise to go out and work for causes they care about. And we believe young people have the power to change the world. This is the cornerstone of the GYA Program.

We are honored to work every day with a generation of young people who will soon became a generation of leaders.
